Spacious accommodations, friendly hosts and excellent breakfasts
Cleftstone Manor provided a comfortable and hospitable home base for our three-day stay in Bar Harbor during the first week of October. Contrary to our expectation, the town was bustling with visitors (many from cruise ships lined up in the harbor), so the location - about a half-mile walk or five minute drive from the waterfront - was a welcome respite from the crowds. Rooms are highly individualized - we stayed in the Bruce Price room, and found it very spacious and comfortably furnished, with a generous-sized bathroom, separate sitting area with TV and even an electric fireplace/heater.
The breakfast half of the B&B experience was generous and well-prepared. Each day's menu included a fruit course and a choice of an egg-based or carbo-based main, for example sausage strata or blueberry waffle, plus a choice of breads. At the conclusion of breakfast, we were asked to make our choices for the next day's breakfast so the kitchen would know what quantities of each to prepare. So we experienced a good variety of the kitchen's skills, and thought they were excellent in this respect...
Great host! Great location! Nice breakfast!
Ann helped us navigate Bar Harbour and we enjoyed going to the Bar Harbour Inn and seeing the sunset on the deck and then listening to Bob play the piano there! Bed and room were comfortable. Looked foward to the hot, delicious breakfast each day. We went at the end of August when the tourist traffic was not too bad. I enjoyed swimming in the pool at the hotel up the hill where you have priviliges. Outdoor and indoor pools. It was nice and quite in the inn. We enjoyed the afternoon tea/cocktail hour (bring your own cocktail) that took place in the sunroom.
Bed and “GOURMET” breakfast
My wife and I stayed five nights at the Inn. We had a large third floor room (John Clark room) king bed, sitting area and outdoor deck with a view of the ocean. The room was tastefully appointed and comfortable.
Anne The innkeeper was accommodating and full of useful guidance and patient to answer all of our questions. The inn is located just a short 10 to 15 minute walk from downtown Bar Harbor. The breakfasts prepared by Chef “T” were extraordinary... put you into a food coma!. From lemon ricotta pancakes, roasted red pepper and sausage quiche, stratas, oatmeal and apple pancakes, pecan waffles, baked omelettes, fresh fruit and freshly baked pastries...All amazing. We had a great stay.
